Carl’s Place High-Contrast Gray Impact Screen

$0.00

The High-Contrast Gray uses the same three-layer construction as the Premium screen — same impact absorption, same noise reduction, same durability — with one key difference: the surface is gray instead of white. That gray surface is specifically built to pull in ambient light rather than reflect it. The result is deeper blacks, better contrast, and more vivid colors in rooms that have overhead lights, windows, or light sources you can’t fully control. If your room gets ambient light and image quality matters to you, this is the screen to get. If you can fully darken your room, the Premium white screen performs just as well at a comparable price.

Available in 29 sizes and three edge finishing options — Grommets, Flaps, or Loop.

** Prices range from $449.95 to $1,169.95 depending on size and finish selected.

What It Is

The High-Contrast Gray is the ambient light answer in the Carl’s Place screen lineup. It’s built on the same three-layer foundation as the Premium — the same impact absorption, the same noise dampening, the same durability — but the surface material is gray rather than white.

White screens reflect ambient light back at the viewer, which washes out the projected image and reduces contrast. The gray surface on this screen absorbs that stray light instead, which means the projected image holds its depth and color even when the room isn’t fully blacked out. If you’re building a simulator in a space that has windows, overhead lights, or any light source you can’t completely control between sessions, the High-Contrast Gray gives you a noticeably better image than any white screen in the same conditions.

If your room is a dedicated basement or a fully controlled space where you can eliminate ambient light completely, the Premium white screen performs comparably — and in complete darkness a white surface can actually produce slightly higher peak brightness. But most home setups have some ambient light somewhere, which is why the High-Contrast Gray is the screen we point most dedicated room builds toward.

Edge Finishing Options

Grommets — Metal rings spaced along the edges for bungee cord or tie-down attachment. Standard choice for most Carl’s Place enclosures.

Flaps — Fabric panels extend beyond the screen on all sides, overlapping the enclosure frame for a tighter, more contained look. Good for permanent and DIY builds.

Loop — Continuous fabric loop around the entire perimeter for secure frame attachment without individual grommet points.

Which Size Do You Need?

Match to your enclosure opening — not your room dimensions. If you have a Carl’s Place enclosure the matching size is listed in your enclosure specs. If you’re not sure, reach out and we’ll confirm before you order.
