Why the Hitting Strip Matters

Most simulator upgrades focus on the monitor, the screen, or the software. The hitting strip is easy to overlook — but it’s what your club contacts on every single swing. A worn-out or wrong-fit strip gives you inconsistent feedback, can mask divot patterns, and over time puts unnecessary stress on your wrists and elbows.

Replacing just the strip instead of the whole mat is also the smarter financial call. These drop in and drop out, so when one wears down you swap it rather than buying a new mat.

The Three Options — Which One Is Right for You

Standard Insert — the balanced choice for most golfers. Firm enough to give you honest feedback without being punishing. Good for mixed use — some practice, some entertainment rounds.

Foam Divot Strip — the most forgiving of the three. If you’re putting in a lot of reps, have joint concerns, or your simulator gets used by people of different ages and skill levels, this is the one to choose. It absorbs more impact, which adds up over hundreds of swings.

Gel Divot Strip — the most realistic feel. The gel surface responds more like real turf, compressing at contact and giving you a better sense of whether you’re hitting it clean or chunking it slightly. If you’re working on your ball-striking and want your mat to actually tell you something useful, start here.
