Carl’s HotShot Hitting Strips

Price range: $79.95 through $279.95

Carl’s HotShot Hitting Strips are the interchangeable insert that sits where your club meets the mat — the part of any hitting mat that wears out first. Choose from three configurations: Standard (balanced feel), Foam Divot (extra forgiveness and joint protection), or Gel Divot (the most realistic, demanding turf feedback). Drop-in replacement — no need to replace the whole mat when only the strike zone wears out.

Description

What It Is

HotShot Hitting Strips are the replaceable hitting surfaces designed for Carl’s HotShot Golf Hitting Mats. Because the hitting strip takes the repeated impact from every golf shot, it typically wears faster than the surrounding mat. Instead of replacing the entire mat when the hitting area wears down, you can simply install a replacement strip.

The hitting strip is the small section of your mat that takes every single impact — it wears out faster than the rest of the mat and has the biggest effect on how a shot actually feels. Instead of replacing your whole HotShot mat when that section wears down, you can swap in a new strip.

Carl’s Place makes three versions, each trading off differently between forgiveness and realism:

  • Standard Insert — balanced feel, moderate forgiveness, good for general use
  • Foam Divot Strip — softer feel with added forgiveness and joint protection, making it a strong choice for beginners, families, and frequent practice
  • Gel Divot Strip — realistic turf interaction with stronger feedback on fat shots, suited for golfers who want a more demanding practice surface

Why Replace Just the Strip

If your hitting area is worn but the rest of your mat is fine, you don’t need a full mat replacement — just swap the strike zone. It’s a lower-cost way to keep your simulator performing without buying a new mat outright.

Getting More From Your HotShot Hitting Strips

Choosing Between HotShot Hitting Strips

Choosing the right HotShot Hitting Strips depends on how you practice and the type of feedback you want from your golf simulator.

The Foam Divot Strip provides a softer hitting experience with additional forgiveness and cushioning. This can be useful for frequent practice sessions, family simulator rooms, or golfers who prefer less impact through the hands, wrists, and joints.

The Gel Divot Strip is designed for golfers who want more realistic turf interaction and stronger feedback when the club enters the hitting surface behind the ball. That additional feedback can make it useful for players focused on improving strike quality and identifying fat shots during practice.

Because HotShot Hitting Strips are replaceable, you can change insert styles later without replacing your complete hitting mat. This gives you the flexibility to adjust your practice surface as your simulator setup, playing habits, or training goals change.
