It’s made from a heavy-duty tightly woven polyester that gives you a noticeably smoother, sharper projected image than the Standard — and absorbs ball impact with less noise and less rebound. It’s not the top tier, but for most home setups in a controlled room it hits the right balance between image quality, durability, and price. If you’re not sure which screen to get, this is where most people land.

What It Is
The Preferred is Carl’s Place’s mid-tier screen and their most popular option. It’s built from heavy-duty tightly woven polyester — a meaningful step up from the Standard’s single-layer mesh in every measurable way. The projected image is smoother and sharper, ball impact noise is reduced, and the rebound is more controlled.
For most home simulator rooms that can manage lighting reasonably well, the Preferred gives you a quality experience without going to the top tier. If your room has significant ambient light coming in from windows or overhead fixtures that you can’t fully control, the High-Contrast Gray is worth considering instead.
Edge Finishing Options
Grommets — Metal rings spaced along the edges for bungee cord or tie-down attachment to your enclosure frame. Most common for Carl’s Place enclosures.
Flaps — Fabric panels extend beyond the screen edge on all sides, overlapping the enclosure frame for a tighter, more contained look. Good for DIY builds.
Loop — A continuous fabric loop runs around the entire perimeter for clean, secure frame attachment without individual grommet points.
